King Charles has been diagnosed with a type of cancer, according to information released by Buckingham Palace. Many people were taken aback by the 75-year-old monarch's diagnosis because he had been following an extremely tight diet and exercise regimen for years. The Palace stated that Charles had been given a cancer diagnosis after an unrelated, benign enlarged prostate was discovered during a checkup last month.
The monarch has led an incredibly healthy life, despite the fact that he will now temporarily abdicate his official responsibilities. The Independent said that in a list of 70 facts published by Clarence House in 2018 to commemorate the then-Prince Charles' 70th birthday, it was disclosed that he limits his diet to just two meals per day.
One fact that was mentioned is that "The Prince does not eat lunch."
Earlier, The Telegraph's veteran royal correspondent Gordon Rayner stated that King Charles views lunch as a "luxury" that gets in the way of his hectic schedule.
Julian Payne, the former press secretary for the British monarch, stated to the Independent: "I learned early on that having a full breakfast or packing a few snack bars to keep you going is a good idea because the King doesn't eat lunch. The workday is quite demanding. starting with the news headlines on the radio and having a seasonal fruit salad and seed breakfast with tea."
It is said that King Charles enjoys homemade bread made from nutrient-dense flours such as rye and spelt, served with eggs, side salads, and coddled eggs—his favorite dish prepared for a quick two to three minute cooking time and mashed into a consistency akin to mayonnaise. Some of his favorite foods are salmon, cheese, biscuits, and wild mushrooms and plums from his Highgrove gardens.
According to information obtained from a BBC interview from 2021, the king observes two meat and fish-free days per week in addition to one dairy-free day. His sporadic veganism is driven by environmental concerns, with a particular emphasis on eschewing factory-farmed beef. A live-in vegan chef was even sought after by Buckingham Palace during Charles's coronation month. His commitment also includes a love of organic produce, which he revealed with Delish in May 2023 together with former royal chefs Darren McGrady and Carolyn Robb.
Charles was interested in organic produce, according to Mr. McGrady, "before it was even invented." Ms. Robb agreed, stating that the monarch's farm was among the first in the UK to receive an organic certification.
In addition to following a tight diet, he also follows a stringent exercise regimen.
Charles performs the five basic exercises (also known as the 5XB plan) of the Royal Canadian Air Force twice a day, according to a 2020 Telegraph report.
The program was created for pilots who must be able to work out outside of a gym.
Within the 11-minute workout, the monarch stretches for two minutes, does sit-ups for one minute, back and leg lifts for one minute, push-ups for one minute, then runs on the spot for six minutes, performing 10 eagle jumps every 75 steps.
Prince Harry revealed in his shocking autobiography that King Charles used to do headstands while partially nude as a way to cope with his ongoing discomfort from previous polo injuries.
The King is a passionate walker, as Queen Camilla also disclosed. In 2020, at the age of 71, she called her husband "probably the fittest man of his age I know".
"He'll just walk and walk and walk," she replied. Like a mountain goat, he is. He disappears from sight, leaving everyone far behind."
